How do I prepare for a facelift?

A facelift is a medical procedure for improving facial skin features. You can consult with a surgeon if you qualify to get a facelift perth. If you do, you will need to prepare for the surgery to get the best results possible.

  • You will likely undergo a medical evaluation performed by your surgeon. It includes discussing your medical history, laboratory testing, and x-rays.
  • If you are under any medication, you will also need to stop or adjust specific medicines. Anti-inflammatory medication may affect your healing or cause too much bleeding. Aspirin can also thin the blood, and your intake of it must stop two weeks before the surgery.
  • Quit smoking six weeks before the procedure and never let it back into your lifestyle again. Smokers are at risk of lung complications that anesthesia may trigger.

Any Additional Procedure?

Fat Grafting

Facelifts may include fat injection or fat grafting that can fill areas in the face to volumize and reshape areas of the body, including the face and the neck. The fat source can come from other regions of the patient’s own body through liposuction.

It is widely used as an accompanying technique in a facelift for over a decade now. The cheeks, nasolabial folds, and the areas under the lower eyelids are common transfer areas.

A fat grafting procedure can take between 10 minutes to 3 hours. Fat is typically reabsorbed in the body in time. However, patients may still need more sessions so that the surgeon can refine the shape of the facial area.

Neck Lift

A neck lift, also known as platysmaplasty, improves the laxity of the skin. It is a procedure that corrects the loose skin under the chin. A neck lift is also the treatment for jowls, even for severe cases.

This procedure often goes along with a facelift to even the look of the face and the neck. Our cosmetic clinic performs it under anesthesia, and the skin is gently pulled tight. The excess skin is removed and sealed by sutures.

How long does a facelift last?

A full facelift can last up to 15 years if you take good care of it. That means no harshly-formulated skincare, a well-balanced diet, and no smoking. Minimally invasive facelift perth procedures can go for up to 6 years. Some factors can affect the longevity of the results:

  • The technique (facelift)
  • Lifestyle
  • Genetics
  • The skill of the surgeon
  • Additional procedures.
